Day 46 (6/29/03) 1/2 Hr:  Carried the boat out into the front yard for a good washing with mild soap and water, before applying the final coat of epoxy to the interior.  Once again, I received compliments from the neighbors (folks, it isn't even done!!!!!).  Great for the ego.

HINT:  If, after 40 days of boat building, the motivation seems to be dwindling a bit, drag the boat out into the front yard and just pretend you are working on it.  Or, do some portion of the hours of sanding that is required.  The compliments will surely spark the motivation.

Day 47 (7/1/03) 3Hrs:  Prepared the seats for epoxy by sanding them down with 150 grit and the 220.  Per the instructions, I also beveled the sides of the seats so they would fit flush with the hull... DON'T DO THIS!!!!!   Instead of being flush, they now fall short of touching the hull (see illustration).

I then applied the final coat of epoxy to the interior (will probably apply another coat just before varnishing).  I also applied a coat of epoxy to the underside of the seats

Illustrating why not to bevel the seats

Day 48 (7/2/03) 1 Hr:  Applied a second coat of epoxy to the underside of the seats.  Then I coated the sides of the centerboard box pieces that will be facing in.

OK, this page is lacking in the picture department.  Since, the boat hasn't changed much, I just went around and took snapshots of my increasingly messy "shop".  Now, what day of the week did the maid say she'd come????

Gettin' artsy with the camera

Feel like I've seen this angle more than enough

Day 49 (7/3/03) 1/2 Hr:  Another coat of epoxy to the underside of the seats and the inner sides of the centerboard box pieces.

Day 50 (7/4/03) 1/4 Hr:  Happy Birthday America!!!!!

Glued the Centerboard Box together with "mustard mix".  Applied the first coat of epoxy to the upper side of the seats.
